Anti-government protests in Yemen

epa02694687 Yemeni anti-government protesters shout slogans during a demonstration demanding the ousting of Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, in Sanaía, Yemen, 19 April 2011. Clashes erupted between anti-government protesters and police in the southern Yemeni province of Taiz ahead of two meetings expected to discuss unrest in the country. One person was killed and around 20 injured in the clashes. The demonstrators are awaiting the outcome of meetings for the United Nations Security Council and the Foreign ministers of six Gulf countries representing the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Around 100 people are estimated to have been killed since protests began in Yemen mid February, inspired by successful uprising that toppled the longtime rulers in both Tunisia and Egypt.
